Exploring Cambridge’s Shopping Scene

There’s plenty to explore around Cambridge’s historic streets. Take a stroll to discover the brands you love, modern shopping centres, charming markets, vintage shops and unique independents.

Shopping Centres

  • The Grand Arcade: In the heart of the city, this award-winning shopping centre boasts more than 60 high street shops alongside a variety of restaurants, cafés, and coffee shops. 
  • Lion Yard Shopping Centre: This stylish venue features more than 40 stores across two floors, offering everything from crafts and gifts to jewellery and high-end fashion. It’s also home to several food choices for a post-shopping refuel. 
  • The Grafton: Just a ten-minute walk from the city centre, this modern shopping centre is filled with beloved brand names, along with various food outlets and a cinema, too.

Independent Stores

If you like eclectic places and unique finds, start in Market Square, which is open seven days a week. While you’re in the mood for a market, don’t miss the All Saints’ Garden Art and Craft Market every Saturday.

For more permanent fixtures, explore the independent and vintage shops along Magdalene Street, Rose Crescent, Trinity Street, Bridge Street and Mill Road.

Our elegant student accommodation in Cambridge puts you just a short distance away from some of the best cafés, bars, and restaurants the city has to offer. The main area for eateries is only a 20-minute walk from your new home, but you can easily cut that journey time down by cycling or using public transport.

If you're in the mood for something unique, explore Mill Road for a variety of international cuisines and quirky eateries. And don’t miss out on Cambridge Market, where you can find fresh produce, street food, and local artisan creations, too.

When you’re choosing where to go out, don’t overlook the college bars, like Clare Cellars. Located in the crypt of Clare Chapel, you’ll find affordable drinks, live music, and themed parties throughout the week.

Anyone can join, too – you don’t have to be a student at the University. Both Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin are home to plenty of sports clubs, from classics like football and rugby to cheerleading, martial arts, netball and more.
